At the Catalyst Center we practice Collaborative/Therapeutic Assessment, a well-researched, individualized approach to assessment that has been shown to be beneficial to those who participate in it. We use assessment as an opportunity for brief treatment geared towards answering your questions and planning your next steps towards living the life you desire. Check out this weekly blog series highlighting The Catalyst Center’s approach to assessment and what types of testing we can do for you.

A Powerful Approach to Assessment

Did you know that Collaborative/Therapeutic Psychological Assessment can be a brief, intensive way to make powerful positive changes in your life? The impact of a well done assessment is that you have a deeper understanding of yourself (or your child) and have a clear game plan for what needs to happen for things to improve.

Our approach to assessment is a little different from what most people think of when they think of “Psychological Assessment.” We focus on maximizing the positive, therapeutic impact of assessment by taking the time to get to know you as a real and complex person.

We talk and write in a clear and easy-to-understand manner that takes out all the confusing jargon and technical writing and translates it into regular language that everyone can understand. We move deeper than simply putting a diagnosis or label on you or your child and instead we work WITH you collaboratively and respectfully to understand what is working and what is not working in your life, how you’ve gotten stuck in some spots, and most importantly, what we can do to get you unstuck and moving in a healthier direction.

Important questions can be answered with an assessment:

  • How can I reach my potential?
  • What is keeping me stuck in life?
  • Why is my child struggling at school, at home, or in friendships?
  • Do I have Depression, Bipolar Disorder or a Mood Disorder?
  • How do I learn best?
  • Do I have ADHD or a Learning Disability?
  • What can I do to improve my relationships?
  • What are our strengths and challenges as a couple?
  • How can we best prepare for marriage, adoption, or for the birth of a baby?

These example questions are only a small sample of what our assessments can help address. The Catalyst Center is able to answer these types of questions as well as many others as well. We perform a wide variety of assessments which can help meet your needs and these include the following specialty services:
