Pregnancy and Postpartum

One of the areas where the Catalyst Center team has made a name for ourselves in in our work with women and men during their transition into parenthood.  We are known for our commitment to excellence in the treatment and prevention of postpartum issues such as Depression, Anxiety, OCD, and Birth Trauma in men and women. Because we know how important a team approach is to effectively preventing and treating postpartum issues, we work closely with Denver area Midwives, OB/GYNs and Doulas and provide free educational materials for any interested birth professionals.

Parenting Children and Teens

We are known for our excellent therapists and our deep knowledge about how to help children and families create secure bonds, change problem behaviors, and build a healthy and happy family. We excel in our work with parents who want to start their children off in life with the best tools available.

We specialize in helping parents navigate the complexities of raising a family from birth to young adulthood. We help you to work on balancing your individual and couple needs with the needs of your children, understanding your child's brain development and how to use this knowledge to parent more effectively, and guide you through what can be challenging years as your child's needs change as he or she develops into a teenager.

We utilize Directive Play Therapy, Family Therapy, Parent Coaching, Collaborative Therapeutic Assessment, EMDR, and Neurofeedback to help families get out of difficult patterns and find ways to grow and live together more peacefully.

Complex Children

At The Catalyst Center we specialize in helping families who are struggling with a child for whom "parenting as usual" just hasn't helped. We use a multifaceted approach to help your family find peace and stability.

Our approach begins with formal or informal assessment of the whole family to ensure we understanding what is going on and how best to help. We then use parent coaching, directive play therapy, EMDR, and neurofeedback to help shift things in your family for the better.

We believe in the healing power of the genuine connection between therapist and client, and the importance of finding the right fit with a therapist, which is why every potential new client receives a free initial consultation.

Caring for Yourselves and Your Family Through Separation or Divorce

Partnership does not always work out. We understand that not all couples should stay together. Despite popular opinion, separation and divorce do not have to be an awful experience. You can do a great service to yourself and your children (if you have them) by working to make the divorce process as peaceful as possible for everyone. Therapy is a great space to negotiate the new boundaries and rules, process the loss of the relationship, and move forward with your new lives. Many couples who were not able to have a successful marriage can still collaborative successfully in their divorce process

Rebuilding Trust Following a Breach

Infidelity brings extreme pain. For most people the wound is not really as much about the physical or emotional affair as much as it is about the lying and deceit. Therapy provides the safe and neutral space to work through the hurt and understand the issues at hand...

Premarital Counseling

Many couples spend a lot of energy preparing for their wedding. In addition to preparing for your big day, come and prepare for your marriage. Research shows that premarital counseling helps couples to fare better in their marriages...

Rekindling Emotional and Physical Intimacy

Couples commonly lose touch with one another over the course of their relationship due to life stress. Couples start to feel stuck and like they keep having the same argument over and over again, one week about the dishes and the next week about the children's education. Couples therapy is a great place to understand where the disconnection is occurring and learn to repair after arguments and reconnect again...

Improving Communication along the Journey of Partnership

"Communication issues" is the most common reason couples seek relationship counseling. We understand that the source of this broad complaint can be a variety of different unhealthy or less than optimal relationship patterns. The solution to "communication issues" from couple to couple is as diverse as the couples we work with themselves. Appropriate intervention includes an understanding of each partner's individual communication styles, each individual's loving styles, the families they were raised in, their individual hopes/dreams/desires, the shared goals in the couple, culture and background, and many more aspects...

Trauma Recovery

What Is Trauma? Traumatic events can include things from a person's childhood such as abuse or an event from adulthood such as a violent encounter, a medical experience such as traumatic birth, or military combat.

What Does Trauma Treatment Look Like? Having a safe and unbiased environment to be able to emotionally process the trauma is critical. Our trauma specialists make sure that a person feels safe, comfortable and in control before we even touch on traumatic experiences. There are a number of different ways to emotionally process traumatic events including cognitive and emotional reprocessing and EMDR...

What is Neurofeedback?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Neurofeedback for relaxation training.
The American Pediatric Academy has endorsed Neurofeedback as a “Level 1/Best Support” treatment for children with ADHD.

Neurofeedback training for the brain is similar to physical training for the body. Much of our suffering comes from pervasive recurring thoughts and feelings in which our minds become emotionally stranded or cognitively “stuck.” Neurofeedback monitors your brain waves and then provides “feedback” to your central nervous system about what it has just done. When the software detects a tremor in your brain wave pattern (indicative of chaotic or unstable brain wave pattern), it sends an audible signal that encourages the brain to “reset” and self-correct

Faith and Spirituality

For many of our clients, their goals are deeply linked with their spiritual or religious background. Many people benefit greatly from using their faith background as a resource in times of need, when they are in search or personal growth, or when recovering from a negative or traumatic life event.

Many of our therapists specialize in working with people from a faith-based perspective, and clients often seek them out when they are searching for an accepting and supportive place where they can work on their goals within a context that incorporates their spiritual or religious beliefs and practices.

At The Catalyst Center, we welcome clients from all religious and spiritual backgrounds

College Students and 20-Somethings

Your college years and twenties are filled with challenges and major life transitions that can be quite distressing. There are demanding academic and professional responsibilities as well as interpersonal conflicts that can all feel overwhelming.

Many of our clinicians have a special interest in working with college students and twenty-somethings during these important transition years. Our therapists are adept at helping young adults explore identity concerns, work on setting healthy boundaries in relationships with peers and romantic partners, and manage major life transitions before, during, and after college.

Not yet in college? No problem, we also work with teens in high school

Personal Growth and Healing

Sometimes people reach out to us because they know something is "off" in their life, but they aren't sure what it is. Other times people seek us out because they want to grow and reach their fullest potential as a person, a parent, a partner, a friend.

We often get questions like, "Is it ok to want to go to therapy even though everyone says I'm doing fine?"

Short Answer: "Absolutely"

Our clients deeply value having a supportive and accepting place to come regularly as they delve into understanding themselves more deeply and working to grow to their fullest potential.
We believe therapy is a powerful tool for understanding yourself and your relationships more fully and reaching your personal goals

We excel in this area, and welcome clients who are ready to address deep underlying issues as they explore their identity or life patterns at their own pace.

Getting to Know Yourself Better

In our fast-paced, high-pressure world, many of us spend a lot of time focused on what others need from us and not enough on who we are and what we want to bring into our lives. Our clients benefit from spending time getting to know themselves better though individual therapy or through an individualized assessment- an intense, brief way to learn a lot about yourself and kick-start your progress.

Conquering Low Self-Esteem

The therapists at The Catalyst Center excel at helping our clients to grow, change, and learn to love themselves. People with low self-esteem may struggle with thoughts they are not worthy of positive things in their lives because of self perceived personality flaws. These kinds of negative thoughts and sad or empty feelings often lead people to live lives that feel incomplete or unsatisfying. A positive and compassionate therapeutic relationship can help heal these wounds.

Healing From the Past

Many people work with us on issues related to healing from the past in order to move forward into a better future. We believe in the power of understanding how you got here in order to better get to where you want to be.

Reaching Your Full Potential

We excel at helping our clients to make concrete steps towards completing projects and improving overall organization while also addressing the underlying issues that may have contributed to the problem. We use concrete, realistic strategies to help our clients start making progress.
